At Vinings Lake it is our desire to see every person experience a real relationship with God and real relationships with people. We believe the best place for a person to connect with others and grow in their relationship with God is in the environment of a small group. It is the place where real life is played out and where a person is encouraged and equipped in their relationship with God. Community Groups are in place to establish community within the church, in order to reach the community through the church.

Community Groups are 5-6 married couples or 6-8 individuals of the same gender that meet weekly together in someone’s home to grow in their relationship with God and connect with others through fellowship, Bible study, and prayer.

We believe that God created us to have relationships with others.  You can only go so far on your spiritual journey without connecting with other people. Experiencing true community gives strength for the journey and growth in one’s personal relationship with God. Community Groups are also a great place to truly connect with others and establish friendships. You will find out soon that you are not alone in many of your struggles and find encouragement through the difficulties.

They meet in host homes located all over our area. More than likely you will not have to drive more than 15 minutes to attend.

They meet once a week on a set time and day of the week. Our groups range from Sunday night through Wednesday night at this time and they usually meet for an hour and a half.

It depends upon the group. Most of our groups do have childcare in place in which one or two child care workers care for the children during group time.

Each group may slightly vary but a basic group meeting consists of some social time with some light food on the front end. Then the group transitions into a discussion based upon our message heard at VL from the previous Sunday. The group leader facilitates discussion which allows for each and every person to get involved and be a part. Practical insights and applications are brought out so every individual can apply what is being discussed to his or her life. This discussion time is then followed by a time of prayer in which the group prays for each other. The group then comes to a close and everyone may hang out for a little while afterwards.

You can easily sign up for Community Group at our Connection Bar located in the back of our sanctuary on Sunday morning. It is as simple as filling out a card and we will get in touch with you. You can also just attend group with any of your friends.  You are always welcome at any of our groups!
