Students

6th - 12th Grade

VL Students exists to help pre-teens and teens wake up to the beauty, truth, and goodness within themselves and become a beacon of that beauty, truth, and goodness in the world around them.

This group for 6th-12th graders meets Sundays at 11 a.m. upstairs in the student room. This gathering is a judgment free zone where we encourage questions and conversation. We believe students are filled with wisdom and want to be heard. We do our part to listen and then weave the collective stories into the ancient stories found in the biblical narrative. Communal engagement and learning are key to transformation. We have two hopes for our VL students.

First, we hope they come to know their essence is not opposed to God but made in the  image of God. As John Phillip Newel so well said, “We are sacred not because we have been baptized or because we belong to one faith tradition over another. We are sacred because we have been born.” We seek to support families as they raise spiritually healthy students who know from the beginning their inherent goodness, and that they are born already loved and united with God.

Second, we want our students to grow into justice seekers, peace makers, caretakers of  the earth, and the world around them. The invitation to join the God of the oppressed is extended to everyone. Teaching students to use their current resources and influence at their age for the betterment of those on the edges is what we believe the good news is all about.

Your students can bring their friends, have fun, and make connections with other students. We'd love to meet you and hope to see your students there.
